Regarding raising the building unit price of public school facilities
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology seems to raise the building unit price of public school facilities in 2014. The current building unit price of a typical RC elementary and junior high school building is 151,600 yen per square meter. It seems that this will be raised to 166,000 yen in 2014. The rate will increase by 9.5%. The building unit price is set for each facility structure and facility category per square meter. The unit price consists of about 50% of material costs, more than 40% of labor costs, and about 10% of various expenses. The Ministry of Education explains that it will respond to soaring material and labor costs.
☞ On a private-sector basis, the increase is more than the economic recovery due to Abenomics, and it is severe when the consumption tax increase is included.
