Machiya loan

Machiya loan

I want to live in a townhouse or an old folk house, but I can't borrow funds for acquisition or restoration. Efforts to solve such problems have begun in the financial and real estate industries in Kyoto. Kyoto Shinkin Bank has started "Nokoso Kyomachiya", a mortgage loan exclusively for purchasing and renovating Machiya. It is a preferential interest rate that is 1.8% lower than a regular mortgage. There are about 47,000 townhouses in Kyoto city. The number of Machiya restaurants and stores that take advantage of the atmosphere is increasing. However, the aim is not only for commercial use, but also for the development of the local economy by having people live there. It can be said that it is a move to challenge the "common sense of real estate" that "the asset value of old buildings is zero", and it seems to be a trigger for real estate recycling in Kyoto and Nara where there are many townhouses and old folk houses.
